Season Topic: Losing Your Own Soul...

In the Bible, the Lord was teaching the people and in one of his famous teaching sermons, He hit on a very big question regarding the soul. His questions were; “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”

In today's world of desperation to succeed and become stinking rich, it is common place to see people get aggressive, confidently step over others and conveniently trample over anyone else who gets in the way of their success.

So many young people today have been raised on the mentality of dog eat dog. Get rich quick and at any cost. Many turn to prostitution, pornography, drug dealing, gang banging, drug trafficking, fraud, gun running, sex trading, stealing, shop lifting, robbery, extortion, organised crime, marijuana farming and desperate men and women have developed thick skins, becoming immune to immorality and all in the name of success. Wow!

The question is, what happened? What happened to our society, what rocked our communities and polluted our nations to such a large extent that we have all become slaves to success.

We pay obscene salaries to movie stars, sports personalities. Porno stars with silicon implants are worshiped as heroes whilst those who save lives like nurses, paramedics, ambulance response teams, carers for the sick, garbage collectors, educators and those building up our communities get paid next to nothing. No one celebrates them. They are seen as a failure and made to feel little in their own eyes.

The television has no time for school teachers who are raising and building up children. The media world has no interest in covering news of someone risking their lives to save a soul or child from a fast moving car or train. No! In today's world, that is not news!

News is celebrities in obscenely expensive clothing, over-indulged people driving around in cars costing the price of a three bedroom house. News is a movie star going shopping or going topless.

News is gossip about divorce between illiterates posing as movie stars, often with no college education who happened to arrive on the scene because she starred once in a 'wriggle your bottom and wriggle your breast' TV show or semi-pornographic video.

We have gang members posing as rap artists, rapping about guns and killing like its nothing.

They rap about drug use, cheap sex and nothing but erotic sex whilst casually glamorizing gang lifestyle, pimp lifestyles, suggesting immoral sex is desirable, releasing sex laden, raunchy filthy videos and doing things one cannot mention in public for children to view without remorse. Now, in the perverse world that we live in today, those are your success role models.

Cinema houses and TV stations as well as hungry paparazzi will make a million bucks selling them to us on a cinema screen whilst we like sheep ingest and digest the filth with smiles on our faces... my, my, my...

We give the highest media awards to the biggest sources of immorality and moral polluters. We have no shame today as a society at all. We consume filth, buy filthy magazines, copy filthy fashion icons and equally filthy languages and our children drink it all down to the very dregs. Wow! How clever this generation is? Amazing!

Why then do we wonder when our daughters strip naked as fast as you can blink to make a buck or why our little daughters are running around in see through clothing, swearing like the toilet and having sex from the age of 5?

Where is the soul of the fathers, mothers and the grand-parents in all these? Where is our mind, conscience and consciousness? Is anybody home?

This Christmas season is good time to take a census of the state of your soul and the soul of your children. What are you doing with your soul and what is the REAL value and condition of the souls of your children?

Is it measured by the most expensive Christmas gift, Nintendo, brand names clothing costing you a fortune? Or is it more important to you to raise a generation of morally upright children for the Kingdom of God?

As adults, parents, pastors even as politicians what is our obligation to the next generation? What is to be our legacy? And what kind of world are we planning to hand over to the next generation?

What is the price you put on the souls your children? And is incidentally, what is the price you put on yours?

And now that we seem to have gained the whole world through music, arts, film, television, technology, banking and finance, fast cars, fashion flare, endless shopping, credit cards lifestyle, glutinous consumptions and global influence and affluence, mega shopping centres and even mega-churches, have we lost our souls?

Now my dear, that remains the question!

Merry Christmas & Soulful New Year!
